Control Science and Engineering First-Level Discipline

In 1981, the Control Discipline obtained the first batch of master's degree granting rights in China and is currently a key discipline in Hubei Province. After more than 30 years of construction and development, the discipline has formed four distinctive disciplinary directions centered on the strategic needs of national industries such as building materials, transportation, and automotive, as well as the local economic and social development.

  • Control Theory and Control Engineering: Focuses on power batteries, serving emerging industries like new energy vehicles.

  • Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems: Features automatic driving, supporting intelligent vehicle industries.

  • Detection Technology and Automation Equipment: Specializes in fiber optic sensing, serving large-scale engineering projects and key equipment.

  • Intelligent Perception and Autonomous Control: Highlights intelligent waterways, contributing to the strategic security of the Yangtze River Golden Waterway.

  • Relying on the Engineering Research Center of Ministry of Education for Waterway and Highway Traffic Safety Control and Equipment and the Hubei Key Laboratory of Fuel Cells, the discipline addresses major technical bottlenecks in the transformation and upgrading of the three pillar industries (building materials, transportation, automotive). It focuses on strategic issues such as water traffic safety, autonomous driving, and new energy electric vehicles, driving fundamental theoretical and core technological research. Leveraging the National Engineering Laboratory for Fiber Optic Sensing Technology and the Hubei Engineering Technology Research Center for Industrial Kilns, it concentrates on core challenges like safety monitoring and energy conservation in national strategic reserves, infrastructure, and energy production, strengthening its engineering characteristics and industrial advantages.

    In the past five years

    • Hosted 113 national and provincial-level projects with over 61 million yuan in vertical funding.

    • Awarded 1 National Science and Technology Award and 15 provincial-level scientific research prizes.

    • Published 72 ESI high-level papers

    • Obtained 142 authorized invention patents, with over 40 patent transfers totaling 22 million yuan in transaction value.

    • Guided by the university's philosophy of "student-centered education and academic excellence," the discipline actively promotes socialist core values, cultivating a number of outstanding graduates with both academic and moral integrity. Master's graduates enjoy a 100% one-time employment rate, primarily joining Fortune 500 companies and large central backbone enterprises such as Huawei, Dongfeng Motor, and CSSC. The discipline has also signed joint training agreements with international institutions like Monash University (Australia).
