From June 2 to 4, Dean Zhou Keliang and Teacher Xiong Binyu from the School of Automation accompanied Xin Sijin, Secretary of the University Party Committee, on visits to internationally renowned institutions in Singapore, including the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and Temasek Polytechnic. During the trip, Dean Zhou Keliang participated in specialized talent policy promotion and negotiation meetings, met with faculty, students, and alumni based in Singapore, and signed agreements for overseas student training bases, further advancing the school’s international exchange, cooperation, and talent development initiatives.

From June 2 to 3, the delegation visited NUS and NTU to promote talent policies. Dean Zhou Keliang attended negotiation meetings, introducing the school’s development in recent years and talent recruitment policies to PhD students in automation-related disciplines.

During the visit to NTU’s School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the delegation toured the Advanced Robotics Technology Center led by Professor Wang Danwei and the Advanced Optical Fiber Technology Research Center headed by Associate Professor Wei Lei (an alumnus), exchanging insights on the latest research advancements.

On June 4, the delegation visited Temasek Polytechnic and held talks with Vice Principal Hu Chuanqi and leaders of departments such as the Clean Energy Research Center. Han Jun, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, was invited to attend. Witnessed by Minister-Counselor Han Jun, Secretary Xin Sijin and Vice Principal Hu Chuanqi jointly signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two institutions and unveiled plaques for the joint research center and overseas student training base. The two sides had negotiated the Memorandum of Understanding between Wuhan University of Technology and Temasek Polytechnic in March 2024, with the School of Engineering at Temasek Polytechnic and the School of Automation serving as the implementing entities. As an overseas training base for WHUT students, Temasek Polytechnic will enable joint supervision of WHUT undergraduates and postgraduates by faculty from both institutions.

The delegation also visited the Clean Energy Research Center and the Robotics and Automation Research Center, gaining detailed insights into the institution’s latest achievements in fuel cells, energy storage technologies, medical diagnostics, and other fields.

This visit further deepened mutual understanding and communication between our school and top Singaporean universities, reaching broad consensus on joint student cultivation, scientific research cooperation, and co-hosting bilateral and multilateral international academic conferences. It is of great significance for accelerating the school’s internationalization process and building high-level research platforms.
